Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire — Dr. Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, Board Chair of the Global Leadership and Governance Institute (GLGI) and former President of the Republic of Mauritius, recently met with Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, President of the African Development Bank Group, at the Bank’s headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. The meeting highlighted shared interests in advancing youth empowerment, capacity building, corporate social responsibility, and social impact across Africa. Dr. Gurib-Fakim noted Dr. Ould Tah’s support for the work being advanced through the African Business and Social Responsibility Forum, in collaboration with Stéphane Moudote-Bell. The African Business and Social Responsibility Forum aims to strengthen the capacity and empowerment of young people through the corporate social responsibility initiatives of African enterprises. By encouraging companies to create deeper social impact, the forum seeks to support a new generation of engaged, responsible, and impact-driven entrepreneurs across the continent. Dr. Gurib-Fakim expressed her appreciation for Dr. Ould Tah’s support in his previous capacity and welcomed the opportunity to explore further collaboration. She emphasized that the forum represents an important platform for connecting business leadership with social responsibility, youth development, and inclusive growth. Dr. Gurib-Fakim was involved in the first edition of the forum, which took place in Mauritius in 2016. Her presence in Abidjan also marks a meaningful celebration of a decade of this important initiative and its continued contribution to advancing responsible business practices and youth empowerment in Africa. As Board Chair of GLGI, Dr. Gurib-Fakim continues to champion leadership, governance, sustainable development, and cross-sector collaboration. The meeting in Abidjan further reflects GLGI’s commitment to supporting initiatives that connect global leadership with practical social impact and long-term development across Africa and beyond.
